AFBrazilian Air Budget (FAB) was called upon to repatriate Brazilians who are in Lebanon after a request from President Lula due to tensions between Israel and Lebanon.
For the humanitarian mission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense are coordinating the final details before sending an aircraft, which should go to Beirut airport. However, the situation is being assessed to ensure the safety of the operation. For the mission, the FAB has the Airbus C-30 (A330-200) and the Embraer KC-390 aircraft, which can be configured to transport engers.
Lebanon has been the target of Israeli airstrikes in recent days due to conflict with Hezbollah. However, there have been reports of civilian fatalities due to Israeli actions. It is estimated that around 21 Brazilian citizens are living in Lebanon.
“The Embassy in Lebanon is in constant with the Brazilian community and in close coordination with local authorities to make this operation possible,” Itamaraty reported.
As a result, the humanitarian mission is being treated as a priority by the Brazilian government, mainly because it involves the largest community of Brazilians in the Middle East.
