FAB fighter squadron draws pilot helmet; find out how to participate

One of the most traditional units in Brazilian Air Force (FAB) He's raffling off an aviator's helmet. The association of pilots from the 1st Fighter Aviation Group – the popular Senta a Púa – is offering personalized equipment, in a raffle available until April 22nd.

The raffle is part of the squadron's 80th anniversary celebrations, completed in December last year. Based at Santa Cruz Air Base (RJ), the Jambock squadron is famous for having served in the Second World War.

Formed in 1943, the volunteer unit went to Italy the following year, where it fought with P-47 Thunderbolts until the end of the war in Europe. Today, the squadron operates with modernized F-5 fighters while waiting for the new ones. F-39 Gripen.

The helmet, similar to that used by fighter pilots, has blue, yellow and silver stripes. The first two colors are references to the Presidential Unit Citation, a decoration that Senta a Púa received from the United States government for its performance in World War II.

On the left side, the design of an F-5M fighter appears with the stylized Brazilian flag. On the right side, the Special Condition Badge that identifies the Fighter Aviation, next to the Cruzeiro do Sul constellation. On the back, the famous biscuit, the squadron's trademark, appears in its 80th anniversary commemorative version. At the front, on the dark visor protection, the inscriptions “1º GAVCA” and “80 years” can be seen. 

How to participate in the raffle 

Anyone who wants to compete for the helmet must purchase at least one of the numbers still available, clicking here. A single ticket can be purchased for R$25 and payment can be made by Pix or credit cards. 

The draw is available until 19pm on 00/22, the date on which the Fighter Aviation Day in Brazil.
