The US denied the extradition request for the pilots of the Legacy jet involved in the collision with a GOL Boeing in September 2006. Joseph Lepore and Jean Paul Paladino are convicted of having caused the crash of Flight 1907 that killed 154 people.
The North American justice did not give approval for the extradition of the pilots requested by the 1st Federal Court of Sinop (MT) and also by the National Secretariat of Justice in which it was formalized through the Department of Asset Recovery and International Legal Cooperation.
The American Embassy said that the crimes committed are not ed by the bilateral agreement between the countries on the extradition of convicts. The pilots of the Excel Aire Legacy jet were condemned by the Brazilian courts for a culpable attack against the safety of air transport in article 261 and also in article 263 framed in the execution in a qualified manner.

The Ministry of Justice even issued the subpoena, but the US court said that there would be no jurisdiction to execute the conviction given by the Brazilian authorities.
On September 29, 2006, a GOL Boeing 737-800 that had just arrived in the fleet was operating flight 1907 between Brasília and Manaus when it crashed and disintegrated in mid-air after a collision with an Embraer Lgacy jet that was on a delivery flight for the company Execel Aire.
The accident killed 154 people, all on the Brazilian company's flight, and became one of the biggest air accidents ever to occur in the country, including being a factor that contributed to the air accident between 2006 and 2007.
Lepore and Paladino were sentenced to 3 years in open prison, but until then, they had never been executed.
