Next Monday (24/10) the assisted operation (test period) of the new vehicle access to the curb at Fortaleza Airport on the check-in and arrival floors will begin.
Access to the midway will remain free and, in this testing phase, s will not be charged even if the time of 10 minutes is exceeded.
The driver must pick up the ticket at the entrance gate, but there will be no need for validation or payment. The same ticket must be used at the exit gate. The objective is to test the infrastructure, the systems, as well as the adaptation of the s and the flow of vehicles to guarantee a perfect integration, without impact for the client.
Once the assisted operation is completed, free time to use the curb will be limited to 10 minutes. This format is already practiced at other airports in Brazil and around the world. In this way, access to the curb will remain free and there is still no forecast for the start of charging for misuse of the infrastructure.
“It is important to point out that parking on the curb has always been prohibited. This measure comes to organize vehicle traffic and ensure that everyone has access to places to stop and board or disembark engers. The driver who knows he will need more time to wait for someone to arrive, for example, should go to the parking lot”, explains Natalie Valezi, director of marketing and communication at Fraport Brasil.
Lenght of stay
To define the length of stay, several tests were carried out, always at peak hours, that is, when there is greater circulation of vehicles.
Real data, considering the entire journey by car (at an average speed of 20km/h) plus the boarding or disembarking of engers with luggage, demonstrate that the 10-minute tolerance period is sufficient to drop off and pick up engers.
