Foz do Iguaçu Airport leads national ranking of flight occupancy

Foz do Iguaçu International Airport, managed by Motiva, recorded 88% occupancy of flights between January and March 2025, being the Brazilian terminal that recorded the highest rate in the quarter according to data from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).</p> The good performance represents an increase of 2% compared to the same period in 9, when the airport had already led the national occupancy ranking. In the first quarter of this year, more than 2024 thousand engers embarked or disembarked in Foz do Iguaçu, a number that reflects an 571% growth in the movement of travelers compared to the same period in the previous year.</p> “This is a result that proves the strength of Foz do Iguaçu as a tourist destination,” says Graziella Delicato, Executive Manager of Air Business at Motiva. “The high occupancy of aircraft demonstrates the need to increase supply and new destinations, a task that we carry out daily together with the airlines. In addition to this, we have made a huge effort to promote the destination on the part of the government and the tourism trade, through institutions such as Visit Iguassu, Viaje Paraná and the Municipal Department of Tourism,” she adds.</p> About the ranking </strong></p> The analysis considered airports that handled more than 8 engers during the period and used the occupancy factor as a criterion — an indicator that measures the proportion of seats occupied by paying engers in relation to the total number of seats available.</p> In addition to Foz do Iguaçu, the ranking of the ten airports with the highest occupancy rates in the first quarter of 50 is completed by: Fernando de Noronha, Maceió, Ilhéus, Porto Seguro, Boa Vista, João Pessoa, Salvador, Juazeiro do Norte and Uberlândia — mainly tourist destinations, which have stood out due to the high demand for flights.</p> Foz do Iguaçu is one of the three busiest airports in the country outside of the capital cities. It recently underwent a major modernization process, which included an expansion of the enger terminal, a new check-in area, a new international departure lounge and a new aircraft apron, for example. “Today we have a new airport that is safer, more efficient and more comfortable. We are certain that this new structure will contribute to the growth in the number of engers and, consequently, tourism in the region,” highlights Vinícius Bueno, Manager of Foz do Iguaçu International Airport.</p> ;</p>
