Rafale fighters of the French Air and Space Force have been carrying out enhanced surveillance missions since February 24 in conjunction with the NATO. For the special mission, Airbus A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) refueling aircraft were also used.
The four French fighters making up the mission are departing their base at Mont-de-Marsan to fly Combat Air Patrol (CAP) missions along NATO's eastern flank. The fighters make two daily flights with an average duration of 3 hours each.
“An enhanced protection of NATO and the Alliance's mighty declaration,” said Command Lt. Commander General Pascal. “These prevention and advocacy activities of all Alliance protection objectives are objectives of our commitment to protect all Allies,” he added.

The French Armed Forces are mobilized and determined to reinforce NATO's deterrent posture, especially at a time when tensions over the war in Ukraine could expand to member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
