Galeão Airport received Atlas Air special operations chartered by the Brazilian Navy

Galeao Airport

the airport of Galleon hosted two special operations in partnership with the Brazilian Navy. The cargo received is part of the ScanEagle Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (SARP-E) and was destined for the Navy's Operating Sector. The material will be used to expand the operational capacity of the Naval Force in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions. The arrival of the equipment reinforces the expertise of the airport's cargo terminal in handling and storing special cargo.

The importation moved a total of 83 volumes, totaling more than 30 tons that departed from Miami (USA) to Tom Jobim International Airport. The cargo went aboard two Boeing 747-400F aircraft, from the American airline Atlas Air, in chartered shipment dedicated to the Brazilian Navy. 

The operation, which took place at the end of March, was previously designed in a completely customized way together with the importer's logistics chain. After releasing the cargo, the materials were loaded onto nine trucks that completed transport via road, traveling between Rio de Janeiro and the Naval Air Base of São Pedro da Aldeia (BAeNSPA).
