GOL is yet another airline that has just spoken out about the repeal of the rule which limited the radius of airports that could connect with Santos Dumont from January. The airline evaluates the new proposal as positive for Rio de Janeiro airports, and awaits the new definitive resolution so that adjustments can be made without impacting the company's customers.
According to the new proposal that should come into force from January, Santos Dumont Airport will have an annual limit of up to 6.5 million engers, as announced by the Ministry of Ports and Airports. The decision should be published in the Official Gazette of the Union later this week.
Check out GOL's note in full:
“GOL considers the recent decision on the new methodology for adapting the flight offer at Santos Dumont airport to be appropriate, which follows technical criteria for the size and capacity of the airport.
Rio de Janeiro is an important growth vector for GOL, which currently operates an average of 80 daily flights to 29 destinations from SDU and Galeão (GIG). The new balance between airports brings improvements to both operational performance and the Customer experience and international connectivity. Together with our partners, we reaffirm positive perspectives for the future.
We await the final regulations to make the necessary adjustments to our operations. Our decisions will be based on the search for the least possible impact on Customers.”
