On the last 05th, GOL Linhas Aéreas reactivated another Boeing 737-800 to carry out flights with engers throughout Brazil, but this aircraft has a difference that makes it the only one among all the aircraft that make up the company's fleet.
The aircraft in question is a Boeing 737-800 ed PR-GZW that does not have the 'tips' of the wings installed, called winglets, which are aerodynamic devices that help in the flight efficiency of that aircraft, helping to reduce fuel consumption and They also help reduce drag.
The PR-GZW had not flown since March, when it was preserved by GOL and also sent for heavier maintenance in São José dos Campos. It was expected that the 737-800 would be returned by the company, which has gradually renewed its fleet with new 737 MAX.
With demand showing strong growth, GOL decided to reactivate the aircraft, which returned to commercial service on the 05th. 737.
All other GOL 737-800s have winglets, both the majority that were received by the company with the Short Field Performance package, making the use of winglets standard, and the others that do not have the aerodynamic package.
GOL received the PR-GZW in January 2020, before the pandemic coming from Air China, with around 16,8 years of life. A particular feature of this plane and its 'brother' PR-GZZ that has already left the fleet, is that both came with the configuration of 2×2 executive seats in the first rows.
This standard was maintained by the Brazilian company for some time, now after the maintenance period, the Boeing 737-800 PR-GZW lost its executive seats and now flies with 183 seats in GOL's standard.
