On Saturday, April 12, GOL began operations on its newest international route, which connects Recife (REC), capital of Pernambuco, with direct flights to Córdoba (COR), one of the most important cities in the Argentine interior.
The inaugural flight took off from the capital of Pernambuco at 18:15 p.m. on Saturday and landed on Argentine soil shortly after midnight on Sunday. The COR-REC return flight took off at around 1 a.m. on the 13th and landed shortly before 6 a.m. in Recife.
The new route will be GOL's second international operation in Recife, which already offers regular and direct flights between the capital of Pernambuco and Buenos Aires' central airport, Aeroparque (AEP). The connection with the Argentine capital has two flights per week and, during the high summer season, operated with a frequency of three operations per week.
The Córdoba-Recife flight is the result of a t effort between GOL and the government of the state of Pernambuco, through the Pernambuco Tourism Company (Empetur), and contributes to consolidating GOL's presence in Argentina, the Company's largest international market.
To celebrate the new flight, a special event was held at Recife International Airport. Gifts were handed out and a special reception was held for customers of the first flights, both in Recife and in Córdoba.
GOL operates flights to 4 cities and 5 airports in Argentina: Aeroparque (AEP) and Ezeiza (EZE) in Buenos Aires, Mendoza (MDZ), Córdoba (COR) and Rosario (ROS). Argentine customers can fly nonstop to 13 Brazilian cities in the South, Southeast, Central-West and Northeast regions.
With the direct connection to Recife, Córdoba is expanding its connections with Brazil. The city already has nonstop flights from GOL to Rio de Janeiro/RIOgaleão (GIG) and Florianópolis (FLN), both of which have significant leisure demand. On April 2, the city began receiving 3 weekly flights to São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU), largely serving the corporate public. Now, with 1 weekly direct flight to Recife, travelers from Córdoba and the entire region will have flights to the Brazilian Northeast, one of the most popular destinations for Argentines.
GOL flights between Brazil and Argentina are operated with Boeing 737 aircraft, which in international configuration have a capacity of 176 engers.
