The transfer of the concession for Mossoró Airport – Dix-Sept Rosado from the Government of Rio Grande do Norte to Infraero was signed this Friday (29/9). The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, the president of Infraero, Rogério Barzellay, the governor of RN, Fátima Bezerra, the National Secretary of Civil Aviation, Juliano Noman, among other authorities. Until then, the Company managed and operated the terminal under a contract signed with the Rio Grande do Sul government in December 2022.

During the event, Costa Filho announced the transfer of R$20 million for modernization works at the Rio Grande do Norte airport. “President Lula authorized us to invest in Mossoró Airport and we are doing so. In the coming months we will also discuss other investments for Rio Grande do Norte, such as the Porto-Indústria Verde project, which promises to boost the State's economy”, said the minister.

Governor Fátima Bezerra celebrated the initiative. “The investment announced by the minister will be used to improve the security and efficiency of the terminal, making Mossoró Airport a facility capable of fulfilling its vocation, which is to promote the development of Mossoró and the entire region”, she stated. The governor announced that she managed to create a new route to Mossoró Airport. “Yesterday the RN Tourism Secretariat defined with Latam that from now on Mossoró will gain a new flight segment, which will be Fortaleza – Mossoró – Natal”, she said.

Among the improvements to be carried out by Infraero are the revitalization of the pavement and horizontal signage of the taxiway, adaptation of access gates and operational fence, installation of visual aid for air navigation, revitalization of the Atmospheric Discharge Protection System (SPDA ), expansion of the enger terminal, among other actions. “Our idea is that the bidding processes will begin from November so that, next year, the airport will be prepared to operate jet flights, which is our main objective”, highlighted Rogério Barzellay.
