GRU Airport, the concessionaire that manages São Paulo International Airport, in Guarulhos, recorded the movement of 30,1 thousand tons of international cargo in May 2024. Of this total, 14,3 thousand tons represent imported items, with 192 tons of cargo processed through international express shipping warehouses. Exports totaled 15,8 thousand tons handled, of which 242 tons were cargo expressed outside Brazil.

Guarulhos airport is consolidating itself as the main logistics terminal for international cargo, with 52% of the air market in May 2024. In this same period, it was responsible for 45% of all imports nationalized via air transport, while exports totaled 60%. In the first five months of the year, the market share of the imported volume was 43%, while of the exported volume it was 61%.
Among the most transported products are those from the automotive segment with 22%, pharmaceuticals with 18%, machinery with 16% and electronics with 8% of imported and nationalized cargo at TECA GRU.
Route network
One of the main air connection hubs in Latin America, São Paulo International Airport, received the operation of 40 airlines that transported cargo in May 2024. Of the 37 that operated regularly, 7 served the domestic market, with 4 flying simultaneously with cargo and engers (3 of them also on international routes) and three transported exclusively cargo. The other 30 companies only made international flights, 6 of which with exclusively cargo aircraft.
The Cargo Terminal at São Paulo International Airport is the largest airport complex in the country, totaling an area of approximately 190 thousand m² bonded, with 100 thousand m² operated by GRU Airport and 90 thousand m² managed by third parties. The terminal houses the largest refrigerated complex at airports in Brazil, with around 33.000 thousand m³ of import and export storage capacity. The 24 cold rooms cover all temperature and product variations. In addition, the space has 440 positions for refrigerated containers for imports.
