Iberia announced today that it will be the first airline to receive the brand new Airbus A321XLR on the market between April and October this year.

This aircraft will reinforce Iberia's long-haul fleet and will operate in a more sustainable and innovative way, offering the possibility of operating the airline's transoceanic routes also with a narrow-body aircraft, that is, a single-aisle aircraft. 

The A321XLR will reinforce the airline's network of destinations with a special focus on America, as in addition to having more units with autonomy to carry out transoceanic trips, the new model will allow more efficient use of the fleet, according to the demand of each market. aerial. The first long-haul destinations* to which this aircraft will initially fly will be Washington and, starting in December, Boston. 

 

A , single-aisle experience

One of the great new features that the A321XLR will present are long-haul flights with a single-aisle aircraft, all offering a service at the same level enjoyed on wide-body models such as the A330 or A350 in the Iberia fleet. 

This model will have 182 seats in Business and Economy cabin configurations, and will feature several improvements that offer more comfort to customers, including more spacious trunks, with a storage capacity of up to 60% more hand luggage, six different cabin lights and a modern at the plane's entrance, among others. 

In the case of the Business cabin, the A321XLR will have 14 individual seats with windows and direct access to the aisle. Furthermore, the armchairs will offer maximum comfort, with a 'full flat' seat, which transforms into a bed, a large leather headrest, compartments for personal items and a structure that offers great comfort and privacy. 

All Business seats have an individual 18-inch screen with 4K quality, sharper images and better tones in dark mode. All this accompanied by the best onboard entertainment.

For greater comfort, each seat will have its own lighting system, which can be independently regulated to adjust the light to the desired environment, while each seat will have its number backlit in night mode, to make it easier to locate. 

The Airbus A321XLR will have 168 seats in the Turista cabin of Recaro's latest model, the CL3810, which is the evolution of the seats on current long-haul aircraft, with a four-inch recline and leather headrests. The seats will also have two additional pockets to store personal items. 

All cabins on the new A321XLR will offer customers the ability to bring their own headphones and connect them via Bluetooth; Additionally, they include improved USB Type-A and Type-C charging ports. Sitting tables allow customers to place their own electronic devices so they can use them more comfortably. 

Likewise, like the rest of the long-haul fleet, the A321XLR will have connectivity so customers can connect to the free WiFi service to send messages throughout the flight.

The plane will also have four bathrooms with antibacterial surfaces, taps with motion sensors and a trash can that can be opened with a pedal.
