On June 11, 2025, SAFE Escola de Aviação, in partnership with the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), had the honor of hosting Inclusive Aviation Day, an event of great importance for promoting accessibility and inclusion in the Brazilian aeronautical sector.
The event was held at the SAFE base at Amarais Airport and brought together authorities, aviation professionals, people with reduced mobility and wheelchair s for a day of lectures, demonstrations and experimental flights. The highlight was the presentation of the first LSA aircraft fully adapted for wheelchair s in Brazil: the Montaer SFI (MC-01), an adaptation that replaces the pedals and allows the pilot to have full control of the aircraft using only his hands.
The most exciting moment of the day was the participation of pilot Ricardo Costa, who lost the use of his legs after a motocross accident and, thanks to the of ANAC and the adapted aircraft, was able to fly again, demonstrating the viability of training pilots with physical disabilities in the country.
In addition to the participation of ANAC’s board of directors, the event was attended by the distinguished Italian pilot Paolo Pocobelli, representative of the “Ali per Tutti” (Wings for All) project, a reference in the promotion of inclusive aviation in Europe. In an inspiring talk, Paolo shared his journey of overcoming obstacles after an accident that left him paraplegic and his mission to open the skies to all who dream of flying, regardless of their physical limitations.
During the event, flights were also carried out with randomly selected participants in wheelchairs, in addition to experiences in simulators and with the adapted aircraft.
SAFE reinforces its commitment to inclusive pilot training and celebrates this important step towards making the dream of flying accessible to everyone. We are proud to be part of this historic transformation alongside ANAC and pioneers like Ricardo and Paolo.
