Infraero participates in the SMS Brazil 2024 operational safety meeting

Infraero was present at the 2024 edition of the Safety Management Summit (SMS) Brazil, an international meeting promoted by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) on October 1st and 2nd in São Paulo (SP). The event brought together industry professionals, company representatives and of academia to discuss problems, solutions, new methodologies and share experiences and information on operational safety.

Infraero's Operations Management Superintendent, Paulo Eduardo Cavalcante, represented the Company in the “Runway Safety” , in which he presented the implementation of processes and tools at Santos Dumont Airport, already based on the Global Reporting Format (GRF) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the pilot project of a new market solution called RCR-Tool.

“This innovative technology consists of sensors that continuously measure precipitation and provide accurate information on runway conditions, reducing the need for interventions, which increases infrastructure availability and reduces impacts on air operations. The RCR-Tool©️ is in use at international airports such as Rotterdam (Netherlands), Munich () and Istanbul (Turkey) and is now arriving at Santos Dumont Airport for testing,” he explained.
In his presentation, the superintendent also shared insights into the impact of this project and the implementation schedule at Santos Dumont, which includes a period of testing and integration with the systems of the Department of Airspace Control (DECEA).

Among the s held at SMS Brazil 2024 were those on the themes “Operational Safety Culture – Safety Culture, more of the same?”; “Data sharing to establish an Operational Safety culture” and “Transforming aviation: exploring the global impact of artificial intelligence, advanced automation and digital solutions on aviation safety”.
