Israeli fighter jets carried out a wave of airstrikes in Yemen on Tuesday afternoon that the military said “completely disabled” Sanaa International Airport in the Houthi-controlled capital and hit other targets.

The strikes, for the second day in a row, came in response to the Iran-backed group's repeated missile and drone attacks on Israel, including a missile that hit inside Ben Gurion Airport on Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces said.

Dozens of Israeli Air Force aircraft were involved in the strikes in Yemen on Tuesday, including fighter jets, tankers and spy planes. The IDF said the fighters launched 50 missiles at the targets.

“The Israeli bombing of Sanaa airport destroyed three aircraft of the models (A320: 7O-AFA, A320: 7O-AFC, A330: 7O-AFE) that had been hijacked by the militia.”

“We hold the militia responsible for the destruction of three of our aircraft at Sanaa airport and the resulting losses.”

“The destruction of our aircraft at Sanaa Airport compounds the challenges and represents a huge and devastating loss.”
