Japan Airlines' first B777-300ER retired after 19 years of service

A Japan Airlines began the retirement of its fleet of Boeing 777-300ER, with the first aircraft to be retired on September 19, 2024. Officials at Haneda Airport paid tribute to the aircraft, which was delivered in 2005 and had the registration JA734J (changed to N3243P after retirement).

This was the fourth aircraft of this model to be integrated into the company's fleet.

After more than 19 years in service, the aircraft of Japan Airlines made its last commercial flight between Sydney and Tokyo Haneda on August 20, 2024. The airline had 13 B777-300ERs, which will be gradually replaced by new ones Airbus A350-1000.

The first of these new aircraft, equipped with modern interiors and luxurious first class suites, was delivered in December 2023. The entire B777-300ER fleet is expected to be replaced by A350-1000s by 2026.
