The Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) has made an important change in its orders with Boeing. The company decided to convert two orders for the 777X into orders for the 777-8F.
And to replace its Boeing 737-800s, ANA chose to order 20 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with options to purchase another 10 aircraft of this model. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2025 and will be completed quickly to lower operating costs on domestic routes.
“The Boeing 737 MAX 8 will offer a more spacious and comfortable cabin with less noise than the existing model”, said ANA in an official note.
The Boeing 777-8F will also be the largest freighter available in the ANA fleet, after being delivered at the end of this decade. The airline operates two 777Fs, based on the -200 version of the North American widebody.
ANA's order confirmation for the 737 MAX 8 has a market value of US$ 2,5 billion, without considering the manufacturer's generous discounts.
