LATAM reveals the most transported domestic and international air cargo in Brazil in 2024

LATAM Cargo, the cargo of the LATAM Group, has just revealed that general cargo, pharmaceuticals, electronics and perishables were the most transported items by aviation within Brazil in 2024. On international flights, general cargo, pharmaceuticals, fruits, eggs and fish led the ranking of embarkations and disembarkations in the country.

According to data from ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency), LATAM Cargo transported more than 126 thousand tons¹ of domestic cargo in the cargo compartments of enger aircraft and cargo aircraft to 46 destinations in Brazil between January and December 2024. Of this total, 59% of LATAM's domestic cargo transportation in 2024 was carried out on flights to/from the airports of São Paulo/Guarulhos (32% share), Manaus (17% share) and Brasília (10% share).

In the international market, LATAM Cargo transported more than 207 thousand tons² to and from Brazil between January and December 2024 in the cargo compartments of enger and cargo aircraft.

Of the 207 tons transported internationally by LATAM Cargo in Brazil, 41% corresponds to exports in 2024. On this occasion, 98% of the cargo comes from São Paulo/Guarulhos (76% share) and Campinas/Viracopos (22% share). The main destinations concentrate 39% of this cargo and are: Miami (19% share), Santiago (12% share) and Bogotá (8% share).

General cargo, fruits, eggs and fish are the items most transported by LATAM Cargo on the export front.

Of the volume of cargo moved between Brazil and abroad, 59% corresponds to imports in 2024, with 60% of the cargo originating mainly from Miami (33% share), Santiago (19% share) and Frankfurt (8% share). The main national destinations that receive 90% of this cargo are São Paulo/Guarulhos (60% share), Campinas (24% share) and Manaus (6% share).

Of the imported cargo, general cargo, pharmaceuticals and fruits are the most transported items.

LATAM CARGO INVESTS IN BRAZIL

Since the end of 2023, LATAM Cargo has launched three new international cargo routes: Miami-São José dos Campos (initially with 2 and now with 3 weekly flights); Miami-Brasília (2 weekly flights) and Amsterdam-Curitiba (2 weekly flights), in addition to increasing the number of weekly flights on the Miami-Florianópolis route launched in 2 from 3 to 2020. In April 2024, the company launched the unprecedented cargo route between Europe and Florianópolis, which has two weekly flights and facilitates the transportation of international cargo between Europe and Santa Catarina.

LATAM Cargo has also been investing in its domestic Brazilian market. In April 2024, it inaugurated the new cargo route Guarulhos-Belém-Manaus, which doubled its capacity in the capital of Pará. In May, the domestic operation of the weekly cargo flight Guarulhos-Recife-Manaus was inaugurated, which increased the company's capacity (measured in ATK³) in the capital of Pernambuco by 62,5% compared to April. In July, it began transporting cargo in the lower compartment of aircraft operating enger flights to/from Vitória da Conquista, being the fourth airport to have cargo operations by the company in Bahia, after Salvador, Ilhéus and Porto Seguro.
