LATAM Cargo, the cargo of the LATAM group, has reached the milestone of 1 tons of cargo transported directly from Europe to Florianópolis (SC). Since April 2024, the route has been operated twice a week on Boeing 767-300F cargo aircraft, with a capacity for more than 50 tons per flight. The operation is carried out mainly from Amsterdam (Netherlands), Brussels (Belgium) and Frankfurt (), with the German city being responsible for almost 90% of the volume shipped to the capital of Santa Catarina.
“This volume of cargo proves that the investment in the Europe-Florianópolis route was a good one. The operation makes trade and new business viable because it makes logistics and imports in the South of Brazil more dynamic, especially for general cargo,” says Jorge Carretero, Sales Manager for LATAM Cargo in Europe.
In December 2023, it is worth ing, LATAM Cargo had expanded the operation of its Miami-Florianópolis cargo route, inaugurated in 2020, from two to three weekly flights. The flight is also operated with Boeing 767-300F aircraft.
LATAM CARGO INVESTMENT IN BRAZIL
LATAM Cargo has made several investments in Brazil, both in its domestic and international operations. In July 2024, the company began transporting cargo in the lower compartment of aircraft operating enger flights at Vitória da Conquista Airport (BA), the fourth in Bahia to have cargo operations by the company after Salvador, Ilhéus and Porto Seguro. In addition, it expanded its operational capacity by 50% at Guarulhos Airport, its main airport. hub (connection center). In total, more than 2,9 m² of area was expanded in its Cargo Terminal (TECA).
In the Brazilian domestic market, LATAM Cargo operates in 51 destinations by transporting cargo in the lower compartments of enger aircraft, in addition to operations with cargo aircraft on the Guarulhos-Manaus-Guarulhos, Guarulhos-Belém-Manaus, Guarulhos-Recife-Manaus and Viracopos-Manaus routes. In the international market, since 2023, it has inaugurated three new cargo routes in Brazil: Miami-São José dos Campos (currently with 3 weekly flights); Miami-Brasília (2 weekly flights) and Amsterdam-Curitiba (2 weekly flights).
Currently, LATAM leads the transportation of international air cargo in Brazil according to the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and connects 23 international destinations to the country.
For this year, the LATAM group expects growth of up to 4% in its capacity measured in ATK (Available Ton-Kilometers) and up to 8% in its domestic seat supply measured in ASK (Available Seat-Kilometers) in Brazil, which is also reflected in the increase in capacity for transporting cargo in the lower compartments of enger aircraft operating in the domestic market.
