Aiming to expand the connectivity of its fleet, the LATAM Group has just announced that part of its fleet will rely on Internet services from the provider Intelsat.
According to the information on the Portal Simple flying, Intelsat connectivity will cover 160 aircraft and the installation will take about three years to complete.
According to the agreement, the new internet service will be implemented exclusively on the A320neo and A320ceo aircraft of the subsidiaries based in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
In addition, it is estimated that by 2028, 70 new aircraft will have the Intelsat sKu system installed by Airbus.
Interestingly, Intelsat has a wide global network thanks to its satellites that allow a high-speed connection, giving customers the possibility to enjoy in-flight entertainment with videos (streaming) and messaging applications or on-demand as needed.
In addition to LATAM, other airlines in the world will also add Intelsat's Wi-Fi technology, with emphasis on Air, which will have the service on its A220 fleet, as well as Cathay Pacific, which recently received its first A321neo with the internet from Intelsat.
