LATAM has installed a third self-service baggage drop-off machine at Florianópolis Airport (SC), resulting in a 35% increase in the volume of baggage checked in by engers themselves. Between September 27 and October 28, 2024, more than 11,4 bags were checked in, compared to more than 8,4 ed in the same period in 2023.
Since the implementation of this technology in Florianópolis in November 2021, more than 254 bags have been checked in through LATAM's self-service system, representing 57,56% of the total amount of bags checked in the location on the company's flights. It is worth noting that the technology reduces the average customer service time from 90 to 45 seconds.
Express Baggage Drop-Off is available at LATAM self-service terminals. Customers print out a label with their details and attach it to their luggage. When they go to the baggage drop-off counter, their boarding and label are weighed and scanned. If the luggage is within the 23-kilo limit, the conveyor belt takes the luggage to be placed on the plane.
Currently, in addition to Florianópolis, LATAM's technology is available at the airports of Brasília, Galeão (Rio de Janeiro), Guarulhos (São Paulo), Salvador, Natal, Porto Alegre, Fortaleza, Confins (Belo Horizonte) and Vitória. The latter also received a third machine in July of this year.
