The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) holds at 09:30 am this Friday (22) the ceremony alluding to Fighter Aviation Day, at the Santa Cruz Air Base (RJ). The ceremony, which will be attended by President Jair Bolsonaro, will be broadcast live on YouTube.
During the event, the new serial production F-39E Gripen fighters will be incorporated. FAB's newest combat aircraft arrived in the country at the beginning of this month aboard a Dutch ship that docked in Navegantes (SC).

ed as FAB 4101 and 4102, the planes are the first operational Gripens received by the FAB. However, before entry into service, the aircraft will undergo tests in order to obtain the military type certificate.
Recognition
This Friday's ceremony is also marked by the imposition of the Brigadeiro Nero Moura Operational Merit Medal. Established in 2010 with a focus on praising the figure of the leader and the operational commander, the medal is given to FAB military personnel who exercised or exercise the position of Air Unit commander and to veterans of the 1st GAvCa, for their conduct in favor of the operability of their organization and the Air Force.
During the event, the FAB Commander, Lieutenant-Brigadier Baptista Jr., delivers the most efficient pilot award to those who stood out in the fighter squadrons.
The honor is given to aviators who stood out in the operational, intellectual and sports fields. In 2021, the performance in operational missions of air-to-ground attack, air-to-air combat, knowledge of Operational Intelligence and Visual Perception of Objectives (PVO) were evaluated.
