Minas Gerais receives first H145 helicopters

The Minas Gerais Military Fire Department (CBMMG) today received two H145s configured for Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS). The helicopters, purchased by the Minas Gerais State Department of Health, will be operated by the Air Operations Battalion (BOA) in the Advanced Air Life (SAAV) service for medical emergencies and search and rescue missions in the state. These are the first public five-bladed H145s in Brazil.

The H145 HEMS configuration includes oxygen cylinders, a ventilator, infusion pumps, a cardioverter-defibrillator with multiparameter monitor, stretchers for adults and children, and an incubator for neonatal transport. The final HEMS equipment was customized and installed at the Helibras factory in Itajubá, in the south of Minas Gerais. The Brazilian company is the only helicopter manufacturer in the Southern Hemisphere and supplies eight out of every ten helicopters used in public services in Brazil.

“Helicopters are essential for saving lives and we have seen several examples of successful operations of this type. In most cases, when natural disasters occur, helicopters are the only means of accessing disaster sites and providing to the population. We congratulate the Minas Gerais State Health Department and CBMMG for acquiring these state-of-the-art helicopters to provide to the population,” says Alberto Duek, president of Helibras.

The H145 is a worldwide success in several segments, thanks to its great versatility and multi-function capacity. Its latest five-blade version offers an additional 150 kg for cargo transportation, in addition to low vibration levels, essential factors in aeromedical operations. The H145's main rotor design, without bearings, facilitates maintenance and ensures greater comfort in flight. The HEMS version has equipment for intensive care and allows for more agility in inter-hospital transport. The H145 is the quietest and has the lowest CO2 emissions in its category.

Currently, the global fleet of the H145 family has already exceeded two thousand aircraft delivered and eight million flight hours.
