Minister of Infrastructure of Portugal visits Porto Airport

The Minister of Infrastructure and Housing of Portugal, Pedro Nuno Santos, visited this Monday (29/04) the Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, to follow up on the works of the recent investment to expand the taxiway.

Also participating in the visit was the CEO of VINCI Concessions and Chairman of VINCI Airports, Nicolas Notebaert, who stated: “VINCI Airports is proud to contribute to the country's economic growth, particularly in such a popular tourist destination as Porto. At this airport, we reached the highest level of growth since the investment made in 2013 by ANA Aeroportos – in just six years, traffic doubled from 6 to 12 million engers, and for this reason, we decided to invest in the airport, further enhancing the region's potential. from Porto”.

Regarding the expansion of the taxiway, Thierry Ligonnière, CEO of ANA Aeroportos, referred that “this investment of 15 million euros translates into an increase in runway capacity in order to prepare Porto Airport to continue to grow, as has happened in recent years”.

Fernando Vieira, Director of Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, congratulates the investments made, ing the successive awards that this airport has received, “thus demonstrating the dedication and commitment assumed by ANA and Porto Airport employees in the continuous improvement of the services provided to their engers”.

The event included a session to present the investment project, followed by a guided tour of the main points of the infrastructure, including the aforementioned intervention.

Also participating in the event were the Deputy Secretary of State and Communications, Alberto Souto Miranda, the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, the Mayor of Maia, António Silva Tiago and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ANA Aeroportos of Portugal, José Luís Arnaut.

In 2018, Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, in Porto, received 11,9 million engers, a number that represents an increase of 10,7% compared to the previous year.

The high demand at Porto Airport made it possible, this year, to be connected to 78 destinations (6 more than in 2018) and to have 89 routes available (7 more than in 2018), operated by 28 different airlines.
