Munich Airport kicks off Christmas with ice skating and family activities

Munich Airport Christmas

From Friday 15 November 2024, Munich Airport will once again be transformed into a winter wonderland: until 31 December, the Christmas and Winter Market invites travellers and visitors to stroll through the fir-tree-lined square every day from 11 am to 21 pm. Only on Christmas Eve does the market close at 16 pm.

This year, the focus is particularly on the younger generation: every Tuesday, parents and children can enjoy Family Day, when all exhibitors offer discounted products. Whether you are looking for gifts, mulled wine or winter treats, there is something for everyone at more than 40 stands in Europe's largest open-air hall. The centrepiece is once again the over 600 square metre ice rink with curling rink.

Santa Claus, along with his angels and Krampus, visits the airport four times. On November 23 and, of course, on December 6, he distributes sweets and gifts to children. At “Santa’s House,” the man in the red robe will share cheerful holiday stories on November 30 and December 14.

In addition, the Christmas and Winter Market offers a varied entertainment program: visitors can go ice skating on the ice rink every Wednesday from 18 p.m. Live jazz, pop or gospel performances create a festive atmosphere on the stage every Thursday through Sunday from 18 p.m. For the first time, from Thursday to Sunday, there will be a creative workshop where children and adults can create their own mugs, plates and other ceramics. The courses are free of charge, only the ceramic pieces need to be purchased.

The popular airport light tours will also be offered this year. The guided bus tours last around 50 minutes and can be booked online in advance. For those who decide at the last minute, there are remaining places available directly on site at the “Lichterfahrten Hut” at the Munich Airport Center.

Visitors can park for three hours free of charge in the P20 car park with a special QR code. The QR code can be found on the Christmas and Winter Market brochures and on the airport website.
