The Third Squadron of the Seventh Aviation Group (3rd/7th GAV) – Neptune Squadron, headquartered at Base Aérea de Belém (PA), celebrated last Tuesday (17/05), the operational elevation of Lieutenant Aviator Gabriela Ariana Fernandes do Couto as Patrol Pilot (1PP).
The Officer, who belongs to the staff since 2021, enters the history of the Air Unit, becoming the most modern pilot to exercise this operational function and the only Commander of Patrol Aircraft in activity in the Brazilian Air Force (FAB).
The Aviadora highlights the importance and satisfaction of this moment in her career.
“It is an honor to have had this opportunity! I cannot fail to thank everyone who helped me in this process, especially those who taught and ed me, so that I could get this far. Save the patrol!”, said the Lieutenant, upon returning from the operational flight.
The military reached the operational marks and concluded all the air tests successfully, in addition to having been unanimously approved by the Operational Council. In this way, it starts to fulfill the Air Force actions assigned to Patrol Aviation, exercising duties and responsibilities of an Aircraft Commander.
The Chief of Operations of the Neptune Squadron, Major Aviator Edesemario Lopes Bispo, said that this is a milestone for Patrol Aviation.
“It is evident to the young Patrolmen that commitment and dedication overcome any difficulties. I congratulate the military for the feat, being entirely her merit”, he said.
Lieutenant Gabriela's flight takes place during the week alluding to Patrol Aviation Day.
“On May 22nd we will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Baptism of Fire of the Air Force and the sinking of the Italian submarine Barbarigo. The Officer's flight shows the continuity of the fierce spirit of the young patrolmen of yesterday and today, engendering the imposing history of our glorious Aviation”, said the Squadron Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Aviator Ciro Appip Lambiase.
