This last Friday (20), pilots and crews of the Armed Forces completed the second phase of the unprecedented flight training aboard helicopters using Night Vision Goggles (NVG).
The t training, called Operation Ricardo Kirk, took place at the Army Aviation Command (CAvEx), in Taubaté, São Paulo.
On the occasion, military personnel from the Navy, Army and Air Force shared and standardized procedures in model H225M helicopters, a strategic project of the Ministry of Defense.
Started in July, the training was divided into stages: the second took place between August 16th and 20th and consisted of night airmobile raid activities. The first, between July 25th and 30th, was aimed at the doctrinal leveling of techniques and tactics.

Located 130 kilometers from the capital of São Paulo, the city of Taubaté is home to the Army Aviation Command (CAvEx) – Fort Ricardo Kirk. Eight military aviation organizations of the Land Force are headquartered on site.
“We have a complete training structure, with simulation and aerial vectors adapted to flying with night vision equipment. A very favorable instruction area in the Paraíba Valley”, explains the Army Aviation Commander, Brigadier General Ricardo José Nigri.
The training course for aircraft pilots lasts 63 weeks, consisting of a theoretical phase, a practical piloting phase in a simulator, a tactical phase and with night vision goggles.
At Fort Ricardo Kirk, students are trained to perform emergency airmobile actions, general use, among others.
flight simulators
The Flight Simulation Division of the Army Aviation Instruction Center (CIAvEx) consists of three buildings, comprising the istrative part, classrooms and flight simulation. Equipment is considered a favorable means for the learning process and for obtaining some type of improvement.
CIAvEx's flight simulators were developed to enable pilots from basic instruction to tactical training in missions.
The use of this equipment provides benefits such as increased safety, standardization of procedures and reduced costs with flight hours on aircraft.
