This morning (31/03), the Federal Police launched Operation Icarus, with the objective of complying with a preventive arrest warrant, issued by the 1st specialized Court of the TJ/RJ.
A man was arrested on suspicion of being responsible for the helicopter hijacking, on 19/9/2021, with the aim of rescuing drug traffickers held in Complexo de Gericinó, in Rio de Janeiro.
The case became famous on social networks for the various maneuvers performed by the pilot who was kidnapped with the helicopter. see on video below:

After a few minutes of flight, pilot Adonis Lopes, who is also a pilot for the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, wisely performed several maneuvers to evade the attempted landing in Bangu.
The pilot even made maneuvers with the helicopter above the 14th Battalion, where he managed to change the Transponder settings and notify air traffic control about the hijacking on board while fighting and negotiating with the miscreants.
Afraid of the maneuvers, the bandits gave up invading the prison, and let the pilot continue to Niterói, where they landed in a local forest, escaping soon after.
Federal police officers, who had been monitoring the movement of the fugitive in recent months, waited for the man to leave the community of Salgueiro, in São Gonçalo, to visit his family, and arrested him in Bairro do Fonseca, in Niterói.
