Event promoted by Secult/Fundarpe and Setur/Empetur takes place from the 5th to the 9th of this month, bringing together music, popular culture, fashion, crafts, gastronomy and photography
The Government of Pernambuco anticipates the Momo festivities in the State by launching Bora Pernambucar at Carnival, an event that takes place from the 5th to the 9th of February, at Cais do Sertão, located in the neighborhood of Recife. The proposal of the Secretariats of Culture and Tourism of the State, Fundarpe and Empetur – responsible for the program – is to promote the cultural diversity of our carnival cycle, in addition to holding a great celebration in the capital, bringing together music, popular culture, fashion, handicrafts, gastronomy and photography. .
Among the attractions of the five days, the event will feature performances by Maracatus, Blocos Líricos, Caboclinhos, meeting of Giant Dolls, La Ursas de São Caetano, Caretas de Triunfo, Caiporas de Pesqueira and Papangus de Bezerros. Also on the program will be Alceu Valença, Maestro Spok, Romero Ferro, Ylana Queiroga, Gilú Amaral, Flaira Ferro, in addition to the Bongar group and the Malassombro Orchestra. DJs will also heat up the atmosphere: Lala K, 440, Mozão and Original DJ Copy. In parallel to the activities on stage, the languages of fashion, handicrafts, gastronomy and photography will promote actions on site.
The Cais Carnival will start on Wednesday (5/2), at 19 pm, with a parade of Pernambuco brands to the sound of DJ Lala K. The brands and designers Aladê, Alice Marinho, Cobogó, Contains Glitter, Colombina, Coreto, Diabo Lôro, Espaço Ventos, Jailson Marcos, Menina dos Olhos, Viva Eterniza and Xuruca Pacheco will exhibit their own production with a carnival theme. Still on Wednesday, Bloco das Flores and singer Ylana Queiroga, accompanied by the Ska Maria Pastora group, take to the stage. The show will feature Flaira Ferro.
On Thursday (6/2) it's the turn of Coco Raízes de Arcoverde – which has Assis Calixto as Living Heritage –, afoxé Alafin Oyó and singer Romero Ferro, in addition to DJ Mozão. Friday (7/2) comes with the maracatu de baque loose Cambinda Estrela, the Clube de Bonecos de Seu Malaquias (both Living Heritage of the State), the Maracatu Nação Pernambuco and the Bongar group. DJ 440, from Terça do Vinil, closes the night.
Saturday's program (8/2) begins with the maracatu Nação Porto Rico (baque virado). Next come the Carijó Indigenous Tribe (Living Heritage), musician Gilú Amaral invites Henrique Albino, Nilsinho Amarante, Alex Santana and Jonatas Araújo. Maestro Spok and Orquestra Recife get the audience pumping, while the night's DJing is with Original DJ Copy.
DANCE OF THE QUAY – On Sunday (09), Frevo Day – Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity –, a big party takes over the place: it is the Baile do Cais, which will promote the meeting of the most important giant puppets of the State, in addition to honoring the La Ursas of the municipality of São Caetano.
Starting at 15 pm, the Baile do Cais will have processions of manifestations of popular culture, such as the maracatu Nação Erê, the caboclinhos Sete Flexas Mirim, the Caiporas from Pesqueira, the Papangus from Bezerros, the Caretas from Triunfo, the Tabaqueiros from Afogados from Ingazeira and the La Ursas de São Caetano.
These groups will prepare the public for the meeting of the giant puppets. Coming from Belém de São Francisco, the dolls Zé Pereira and Vitalina will be welcomed by Homem da Meia Noite (Living Heritage). The last day's program continues with a presentation by the Malassombro Orchestra, inviting Isadora Melo, Rogério Rangel and Vinícius Barros. The last attraction of the Ball is the star of Pernambuco's Carnival, Alceu Valença.
FOOD & BABY – The gastronomy action will involve female protagonism with gastrologists Ana Claudia Martins, from Café do Bonde, and Manoelly Vera Cruz, in addition to Patrícia Sanches, beer sommelière and technical manager for the local brewery Patt Lou. All the menus were executed from a provocation of typically Pernambuco ingredients and inputs, and are harmonized with the guest brewery's labels.
FASHION AND CRAFTS – In the same place, Expocarnaval takes place, a creative fair with the presence of small and medium-sized handicraft producers from the State, and the Todxs na Moda fair, with designers, stylists and brands from the clothing and accessories market in Pernambuco. Professionals from both segments will sell products during the five days of the event, which makes the place a good option to renew your Carnival costumes.
The Secretary of Culture of the State, Gilberto Freyre Neto, highlights the institutional partnership with Setur/Empetur as a positive point for the materialization of the event. “The decision to unite the State's Culture programming with the promotion of Tourism in Pernambuco demonstrates the great integration that the Government has been promoting its actions. Holding an event of this size together is important to establish the policy of valuing our manifestations”, he says.
The Secretary of Tourism, Rodrigo Novaes, reiterates the partnership, also highlighting the importance of bringing the oldest giant doll in the country, Zé Pereira, from the Sertão, precisely on Frevo Day, to officially open the revelry of the State. “Zé Pereira is an icon of our Carnival, the father of all puppets, and he was brought to the capital for the first time last year. It's something very symbolic to bring it back, and just on Frevo Day, which is so important for Pernambuco. This partnership with the Secretariat of Culture was essential for us to be able to hold this party, which promises to be so beautiful, at Cais do Sertão”, he says.
For the president of Fundarpe, Marcelo Canuto, the event will be a great opportunity for artists and pranksters from the countryside to circulate around the capital.
“One of our main focuses is the internalization of actions and, once again, we are reinforcing this. It will be a great chance for these artists to show the true diversity of Carnival in Pernambuco, proving that we have a great and rich party throughout the State”, adds Canuto.
