Airbus has delivered a second H145 helicopter to Servicios Aéreos Los Andes, a Peruvian operator specializing in air services for the energy sector. This is the second aircraft of this model that Los Andes has received under a lease agreement with Waypoint Leasing.
The new helicopter will be based in Kiteni, near Cuzco, and will transport engers and external cargo in of the main Peruvian gas pipeline.
“Two years ago we started operations with a first H145 helicopter in the toughest conditions in the Peruvian Andes and we are extremely satisfied with the performance of the aircraft, which has already accumulated 900 flight hours with around 95% availability”, comments Luis Aurelio Fontenoy Miranda, general manager of Los Andes Air Services. “This second H145 will enter service in the Amazon rainforest under equally demanding operating conditions, not only due to the environment but also the nature of the internal and external cargo mission.”
“I appreciate Los Andes' confidence in the H145. Due to its versatility, power to operate in hot and high altitude conditions, and its operational and economic efficiency, it is the ideal helicopter for the various operations carried out by Los Andes in extreme conditions.”, said Jerome Ronssin, Airbus Helicopters Managing Director for the Southern Cone. “Los Andes will be able to count on the of Airbus to continue taking advantage of the high availability of the helicopter.”
When it received its first H145 in 2017, Los Andes became the first operator of this model in Latin America. Today, in addition to the two H145s in Peru, this model is in operation in Argentina, Brazil and Chile, and is confirmed as the new reference in the region for operations in hot and high altitude conditions.
The H145 is the most powerful helicopter in its category and incorporates state-of-the-art technological innovations, such as the four-axis autopilot and Airbus' new Helionix avionics, designed to offer greater mission flexibility and improve flight safety.
