Piracicaba Airport installs anti-drone system

Anti-drone system

Omnisys, a subsidiary of Thales in Brazil, has presented EagleShield, an anti-drone system essential for detecting and classifying drones. This solution will be demonstrated to regulatory authorities and potential operators at the airport in the city of Piracicaba (SP), located 160 km from the capital of São Paulo.

Additionally, Omnisys will showcase Gamekeeper, a holographic radar capable of providing full 3D coverage, tracking and classification of devices up to 7,5 km away. Manufactured in Brazil by Omnisys, Gamekeeper is certified as a Strategic Defense Product (SDP) and stands out as the main component of the EagleShield anti-drone system. With the EagleShield solution and the Gamekeeper radar, Piracicaba Airport will demonstrate the solution’s ability to protect airport airspace and increase perimeter security.

Representatives of the Department of Airspace Control (DECEA), civil aviation agencies from Latin American countries, as well as airport operators will be invited to participate in the demonstration, which aims to promote the solution to strengthen the security of Latin American airspace.

Thales has developed advanced technologies to address the challenges posed by drone swarms. Using cutting-edge algorithms and systems, Thales enhances situational awareness, enabling the detection, tracking and effective management of multiple drones operating simultaneously in a complex airspace. This innovation not only enhances safety and security measures, but also s efficient air traffic management by ensuring seamless integration between manned and unmanned systems in shared environments such as busy airports. One example of this is Heathrow Airport in the UK, where Thales has played a key role in improving airspace management with its innovative solutions for manned and unmanned aircraft operations.
