Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak unveiled the base that will house the Polish Air Force F-35A fighters. According to the minister, it will be the Lask air base, in the center of the Eastern European country.
In all, Poland plans to acquire 32 units that should start being delivered in 2024.
“The base location for these aircraft has already been designated, last year – it is Łask AB. The infrastructure there just needs to be supplemented, there is no need to build it from scratch. The work has already been released. I can assure you that we will arrive on time.” said Minister Blaszczak.
Today Lask air base houses the backbone of the country's air force, the F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters, in addition to this base, Falcons fighters are based at the bases of Minsk Mazowiecki (EPMM) and Malbork AB (EPMB).
In addition to the F-16, Poland still has some Russian-made fighter units, such as the SU-22 and the iconic MIG-29.
