A Pratt & Whitney received a long-term TF33 engine maintenance contract valued at up to $870M monthly by the USAF Defense Logistics Agency. The TF33 engine powers a variety of aircraft, including Boeing's veteran B-52 Stratofortress and E-3 Sentry.
This agreement is the result of the Defense Logistics Agency's decades-long partnership with the 448th Supply Chain Management Wing, located at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. The new contract will reduce obsolescence, ing the U.S. Air Force's wartime readiness today and in the future.
“The sustainment phase of an engine is a critical but often underestimated part of military readiness,” he said. Jill Albertelli , president of Military Engines at Pratt & Whitney. “The TF33 enterprise is maturing beyond the conventional approach to a more complete and advanced sustainment process that will maximize TF33 for many missions around the world through 2050.”
Under this agreement, Pratt & Whitney will provide comprehensive engine maintenance services for a global fleet of nearly 1.000 engines over a six-year period, with an option to extend for an additional four years. Services under this contract include maintenance, spare parts, program management, field service, repairs and engineering .
Maintenance work will take place until April 2034 at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, at additional U.S. Air Force locations and at Pratt & Whitney's Southern Logistics Center, located in Atlanta, Georgia.
