The place will concentrate transport services, such as ride-hailing and tourism vehicles, art exhibitions, cafes and snack bars. The local infrastructure also undergoes interventions with the restoration of sidewalks on the airport facade, replanting of trees suitable for the space, drainage to avoid flooding, and the implementation of cycle lanes and walkways at the same level as the sidewalks to improve accessibility. The work is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The first phase of the project involves the demolition of the old enger terminal at Recife Airport. Closed since 2004 by the former equipment manager, the building was in the process of falling into disrepair when the airport was granted. After undergoing two renovations, in the 1980s and 1990s, the building lost the modernist architectural features dating from its inauguration in 1958. From that time, works of mural art by Lula Cardoso Ayres remained, which are being recovered by renowned Pernambuco restorers . “Aena carried out the process of stabilizing the Cardoso Ayres s, which will undergo restoration before being returned to the contemplation of Pernambuco residents and tourists”, explains Marcelo Bento, director of Institutional Relations and Communication at Aena Brasil.

Following the planning for the construction of the new living space, Praça Salgado Filho, designed by Burle-Marx, will undergo interventions at a later stage. Aena will return to the landscaper's original project, providing the public space with the restoration of a historic garden that, once restored, will be adopted by the concessionaire.
