On the 24th of April, the air demonstration pilots of Red Bull, Luke Aikins and Andy Farrington, will give an impressive demonstration.
On occasion, pilots will change planes mid-flight, while jumping to find each aircraft. The entire maneuver will take place above Arizona, in the USA, at 14000 feet altitude, when the two Cessna 182 aircraft will be put into a dive, the pilots will jump out of their planes and switch positions.
See in video below:
According to the event's teaser, after changing planes, each one will resume flight, controlling the dive and proceeding to a safe landing on the ground.
If you were in doubt about the aircraft's dive speed, it will be reduced by activating a large plate, which you can see in the video. This will allow time for the entire maneuver, which is already being rehearsed to last 40 seconds, to be performed by the paratrooper pilots.
Aikins told CNN that "Jumping is not the hard part, the hard part is getting back [to the controls]."
“I really want to show the world that I'm not just a skydiver, we're not just these crazy stuntmen”, commented Aikins in a statement from Red Bull. “We can do the engineering, we can do the design, we can do a real flight test program and showcase all of our talents. It takes all those skills.”
Red Bull's change of planes will be broadcast on April 24 via the company's streaming site from 19 pm (Brasília time). Click Here and go to the energy drink company's website.
