Rio de Janeiro will host ALTA event with more than 2 thousand business meetings in the airline sector

ALTA CCMA MRO Event Maintenance Brazil Latin America

Did you know that 340 parts from around 400 suppliers are used to build a large aircraft? Aircraft are complex, high-tech machines where the most significant elements, such as the engine and wing sections, can include hundreds of thousands of individual parts. Thinking about the importance of this issue for efficiency and operational safety, the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) organizes the largest forum in the region on the topic. The event promotes around 2 mini-meetings involving 470 suppliers from 240 companies, in addition to 132 representatives from 34 different airlines.

From June 3 to 5, Rio de Janeiro will be the host city of the most popular event in the Maintenance, Repair and Operation (MRO) and technical purchasing sector in Latin America and the Caribbean: the ALTA CCMA & MRO 2024 conference. 700 participants and should generate an economic impact for the city estimated at more than 1 million dollars, covering direct, indirect and catalyzed effects.

During the three days, the program also includes lectures with experts from the aeronautical sector, who discuss solutions for gaining efficiency and maximizing the development of the sector, as well as its social and economic impact. “This is an opportunity to foster relationships and drive transactions. We bring a unique format by holding more than 2 meetings between airlines and suppliers, in addition to generating an academic agenda that updates the sector with the most modern developments,” highlights ALTA's CEO and executive director, José Ricardo Botelho.

In 2023, almost 110 million engers were transported in Brazil's domestic and international market. With 768 aircraft, the country has the largest LAC fleet, making it an imposing market with vast potential to be explored.

 

Agenda highlights

José Ricardo Botelho and Santiago Valencia Rodríguez will open the event, which has a tradition of more than 60 years. One of the highlights is the presentation by Carlos Garcia, partner at Oliver Wyman, with the talk “Oliver Wyman's Panorama on MRO in Latin America”.

Another key moment on the agenda is the “Girls with Goals: Increasing women's participation in aviation maintenance in Latin America”, with contributions from Ana Maria Persiani (ALTA), Michelle Linale (Thales), Veronica Klein (Safran Cabin) and Santiago Valencia (HIGH).

Later, Jeff Nixon (Proponent), Fernando Miwa (GOL) and Wilmer Lopez (AJW Group) will discuss challenges and innovative solutions in the supply chain. The day will end with the “MRO in Brazil: challenges and opportunities”, presented by Luiz Froes (GE Aerospace), followed by a gala dinner and the presentation of the ALTA CCMA & MRO awards to the best suppliers.
