Russian airline Red Wings is planning to acquire at least 60 Sukhoi Superjet aircraft by 2024. Red Wings is controlled by Ilyushin Finance, which leases aircraft.</p> Red Wings currently has a fleet of four Airbus A320s, eight Airbus A321s and 16 Irkut MC-21-300s on order. According to the Russian Aviation website, the Moscow-based airline has received its first Sukhoi Superjet 100, which will enable the company to launch new domestic routes.</p> The order is for 60 Sukhoi jets, with four more to be delivered this year and 21 aircraft next year. The arrival of these aircraft will allow the company to operate at other airports with more flights in addition to Moscow Airport.</p> The CEO of Red Wings highlighted the importance of Sukhoi for the company, which will strengthen and expand markets in Russia.</p> “This will help us gain a more prominent position in the market, enter the elite league of Russian carriers, so to speak. It will also help to the reputation of the Russian aerospace industry and put us on the right track to become the launch customer for the Russian-made MC-21 narrowbody aircraft,” Evgeniy Klyucharev said. In 2019, the airline carried 3 million engers, making it the 1th largest airline in Russia. With the Sukhoi, the airline can carry 9-87 engers on regional routes where Airbuses cannot operate. ;</p></p>
