The equipment that controls the operation of the engine, including parameters of thrust and fuel consumption, is assembled from 100% Russian components and materials.

Specialists of the Perm-based company “UEC-STAR” completed the development of the PD-8 ACS in the shortest possible time: it took only a year and a half to move from g technical work to assembling the first prototype.

Mass production of this engine is scheduled to start in 2023 when qualification work is completed and licenses obtained. Russia wants to move forward as soon as possible to make an updated version of its SSJ regional jet available.

“The PD-8 automatic engine control system to equip the SSJ-NEW aircraft used under the import substitution program will be assembled from completely domestic materials and electronic components. The system has a long service life and is fault resistant. In January 2022 it will complete fine-tuning and bench testing, after which it will be handed over for bench testing as part of the new engine.”, said Vladimir Artyakov, First Deputy Director General of Rostec State Corporation.

To recap, Rostec presented the “heart” of the PD-8 engine, at the MAKS air show in 2021. So far, two units of the engine have been assembled and have successfully ed the tests.

The tests confirmed the correct operation of the units, meeting the required temperature and pressure parameters, and their compliance with the relevant environmental standards. Obtaining a type certificate for the PD-8 is scheduled for 2023.
