The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) delivered to the Russian Government the first Ilyushin Il-76MD-90A heavy transport jet manufactured on the new Aviastar-SP production line. The aircraft is now in the hands of the Military Air Transport Division based in Ulyanovsk and was produced under contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
“This is an important step for the Ulyanovsk team of aircraft builders, confirming the ability to effectively solve all assigned tasks. Thanks to the modernization of production facilities and the introduction of a new technological process, the factory plans in the near future to continuously increase series production of aircraft, reaching a production rate of 12 aircraft per year. To implement a large-scale production program, the company is actively recruiting new employees.”, said the managing director of Aviastar-SP, JSC, Sergey Sheremetov.

The modernized production line was designed to reduce labor intensity and includes stations for coupling the fuselage sections, wings, empennage and the new Aviadvigatel PS-90A-76 engines. It also features laser positioning for greater precision in aircraft assembly.
Aviastar-SP points out that, at the moment, it is ready to transfer another Il-76MD-90A for testing, with several other aircraft of this variant present in the company's workshops in various degrees of readiness.

Compared to previous versions, the Il-76MD-90A has PS-90A-76 engines that give the jet greater range and transport capacity, new navigation and communications systems and a glass cockpit composed of six multifunctional digital screens.
