On the morning of October 21, Salgado Filho Airport in Porto Alegre resumed receiving commercial flights after five months of being closed due to the damage caused by the rains in May. Operations on a reduced runway (10m) will be gradual, with a total capacity to receive up to 1.730 domestic flights daily, approximately 128 operations per hour, between 12am and 8pm. On this first day, 22 movements are expected, with approximately 71 engers, including landings and takeoffs. In November, this movement is expected to reach 9.800.
Early this morning, the airport experienced a power outage. A circuit breaker had to be adjusted to meet the increased power demand at the enger terminal. The teams worked to correct the problem and the systems have now been restored. The specific situation did not cause any delays in landings or takeoffs. The partial resumption of flights occurred without any major disruptions.
engers were welcomed with great fanfare on this first day. Those who arrived and departed at the first landings of Azul, Gol and Latam airlines received a bag tag from the airport . In front of the domestic arrivals area, the State Tourism Department and several entities in the sector were present with characters and representatives for this resumption.
