This communication was made by the concessionaire to the Airspace Control Department (Decea). The resumption of operations is scheduled for exactly five months after ANAC, the National Civil Aviation Agency, suspended the airport's operation due to the intense floods that hit the capital of Rio Grande do Sul.

Among the verification procedures, an overflight of an aircraft from the Special Flight Inspection Group (Geiv) of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) is planned to evaluate and calibrate air navigation equipment. Only after the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) approves, based on the results of inspections, airlines will be able to start selling tickets to Salgado Filho Airport.

The damage caused by heavy rains caused great damage to Salgado Filho, both on its track and inside. In this resumption, the airport will have 50 daily flights, 350 weekly and Decea has already been informed of the details.

Since July 13th, Fraport has been removing the asphalt damaged by the flood and applying new pavement in the area where aircraft circulate. Salgado Filho Airport has remained closed to landings and takeoffs since July 15, marking 87 days of shutdown. During this period, engers have used the Canoas Air Base as an option for boarding and disembarking.
