“The new Santos Dumont offers a high level of comfort to engers and city dwellers, who can now combine shopping and pleasure in one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world”, says the Minister of Aviation, Guilherme Ramalho. He adds, “This is a work that positively impacts the entire boarding and landing operation at the airport.”

The new yard gained a new remote loading/unloading position. Santos Dumont now has 22 positions: eight assisted by bridges and 14 remote. The reconstruction of 75,3 m² of the courtyard was carried out in ten stages, designed to reduce the impact on airport operations. The old courtyard cladding was completely demolished. The new structure was reinforced, a new soil drainage system was implemented and a new concrete pavement was applied, in addition to horizontal signaling.

In addition, the minister authorized the inauguration of a new commercial space in SDU, which includes a hotel with 300 rooms available, a convention center and a business center. The work carried out on the 2nd boarding floor will expand the airport's food court and add 12 more places for stores, together with 4 more bathrooms on site.
