The Sorriso Air Base (MT) was activated on Monday (26), in a ceremony that was attended by Mayor Ari Lafin, councilors and other authorities. According to the City Council, the base will be used during the Forest Fire Season – TIF 2021.
Sorriso will protect the Amazon biome and the action will be carried out by the Military Fire Brigade of Mato Grosso (CBMMT) in conjunction with the State's Assistant Secretary for Protection and Civil Defense. The objective is to act in the fight against forest fires.

TIF - The Forest Fire Season (TIF) – response phase, takes place annually starting in mid-June and ending in mid-November. This period is so named because it comprises the time of year when climatic conditions of low air humidity and high temperatures favor the emergence of fires in the three biomes of Mato Grosso; cerrado, Amazon rainforest and Pantanal.

TIF presents a permanent cycle of four main phases: prevention, which remains active in parallel with the other phases of the season; preparation, which is marked by specializations offered to military firefighters and municipal brigade ; response, consisting of the operationalization of the work and finally the ability phase, which is when inspection work and forest fire investigations are carried out.
