Textron Aviation Receives FAA Certification for its Safety Management System for Aircraft Design and Manufacturing

A Textron Aviation announced this Monday (16), that its new plan Safety Management System (SMS) for aircraft design and production Cessna e Beechcraft has received FAA approval. This plan complements the company's existing SMS, which is already used for aircraft maintenance and .

The Safety Management System (SMS) is a structured approach to managing product safety, encoming organization, responsibilities, policies and procedures. The new SMS from Textron Aviation will feature a voluntary reporting tool that allows employees, customers and suppliers to anonymously report any risk or quality issue to the SMS Committee.

The committee reviews and investigates reports, develops responses, and makes adjustments to processes and tools to ensure continuous improvement in safety and quality.
