The union representing striking workers at Textron Aviation in Wichita, Kansas, said mediators had been called in and negotiations could potentially resume within a week.
Around 5.000 employees rejected the company's latest contract proposal last Saturday (21) and decided to start the strike, which reached its fourth day. The offer included a 26% salary increase over four years, as well as an annual bonus and other benefits.
For its part, the union said it seeks improvements in four main areas: wage increases to replace losses from inflation, affordable and comprehensive health coverage for workers and their families, protections against layoffs and outsourcing, and an improved and more secure retirement plan.
In a statement, Textron Aviation said it is “more committed than ever” to collaborating and reaching an agreement.
