Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) said Monday that it has sold two more T-20TH Golden Eagle trainer and attack jets to the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) in a contract worth US$50 million. According to the South Korean news portal Yonhap, the company said the two jets will be delivered to the RTAF in November 2023.
Also according to agency, KAI has already exported 156 trainer aircraft, including 72 T-50 supersonic jets and 84 KT-1 Woongbi turboprops, totaling US$ 3.1 billion in sales. KAI recently won another US$238 million contract to supply six T-50i jets to the Indonesian Air Force, as well as a maintenance services package.

The Thai Air Force currently has eight T-50TH aircraft in service, originally acquired in 2015 as replacements for the L-39 Albatros. The aircraft has a General Electric F404 turbofan engine manufactured by Samsung Techwin, is armed with an M61 Vulcan rotary cannon and can employ conventional or smart bombs, cluster munitions, rockets and air-to-air missiles.
