At around 2 am this Saturday (9) a Boeing 737-400 freighter from Total Linhas Aéreas made an emergency landing at Guarulhos International Airport due to the beginning of a fire in the cargo hold.

The aircraft was coming from Vitória (ES) bound for Guarulhos (SP) when at 33 thousand feet the aircraft made a rapid descent and the crew activated code 7600 on the Transponder which means loss of communication. There are no reports of injuries.
Three vehicles from the airport's own fire department and another five from the Fire Department worked to fight the flames on the airport runway. At around 7 am, the firefighters were already carrying out rescue work and removing the cargo from the plane.

The Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (Cenipa) reported that it will investigate the causes of the fire and the forced landing. There were no injuries during the accident.
The Boeing was incorporated into the fleet in July.
