LATAM Cargo Brasil, a cargo of the LATAM Group, has dedicated part of its operation to combating the dengue epidemic in Brazilian states, thus reinforcing its commitment to the country. More than 130 tons of the product were transported from January to April on the Manaus-Guarulhos route, in a space reserved for 19 flights operated by Boeing 767 cargo aircraft. Compared to road transport, air transport has reduced the travel time for repellents produced in the capital of Amazonas and sent to the state of São Paulo over a distance of 98 thousand kilometers by 10% (4 days to 4 hours).
In Manaus, LATAM Cargo currently s for 42% of the air cargo market in the capital of Amazonas on domestic and international flights, according to ANAC. In 2023, there were more than 46 thousand tons of cargo handled by LATAM in Amazonas, both on domestic and international flights.
Since March, it is worth highlighting, LATAM Cargo has expanded its cargo operations to Manaus from six to nine weekly frequencies, seven frequencies from Guarulhos and two from Viracopos, representing a 30% increase in capacity (in kilos) compared to the previous year.
The cargo sent to Manaus is made up of commodities that feed the Free Zone industry (parts, machinery, silver steel ingots, etc.); frozen and fresh perishable foods (lettuce, strawberries, broccoli and fish); textiles (fabrics, footwear and clothing), among others.
