Kratos Defense & Security Solutions' Valkyrie XQ-58A demonstrator performed its maiden flight on March 5 at Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona.
UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) is one of the projects of USAF, in the field of high-speed aircraft.
"This t effort falls within the Air Force Research Laboratory's [AFRL] Low Cost Attractive Aircraft Technology (AFCA) portfolio, which aims to break the rising cost trajectory of tactically relevant aircraft", said the USAF.
The XQ-58A, also known as the Valkyrie, is capable of traveling at high subsonic speeds, and took between 2 to 5 years to develop.
The XQ-58A was the first UAV in a class that was defined by low acquisition and operating costs, yet providing effective combat capabilities.
